Great ideas deserve great food, help us deliver both

This is a chance to be part of something new. As we grow our canteen offering, you'll play a key role in shaping how it comes to life day to day. Here's what you need to know before applying.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing the kitchen area ready for food service
  • Supervising one Catering Assistant during lunch service each day, delegating tasks, supporting them and making sure service runs smoothly
  • Crafting eye-catching food and counter displays that draw guests in, using guides provided by Karma Cans
  • Managing the pantry and stock for 3 hours between lunch and dinner service, Monday to Wednesday, including restocking, rotating stock, checking use-by dates and keeping the pantry clean and organised
  • Managing catering orders, accurately inputting weekly breakfast, lunch and dinner orders in the right quantities based on headcount data
  • During pantry hours, providing images and feedback from service, and updating and communicating any changes to the week's orders, with everything finalised before 5pm (Monday-Wednesday) and end of shift (Thursday-Friday)
  • Proudly presenting Karma Cans and championing our brand in everything you do
  • Upholding the highest standards of Food Handling & Hygiene
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to Health & Safety regulations
  • Feeding back to the Karma Cans team on waste, headcount and item popularity, helping us shape and improve the canteen offering as it grows

Pantry and stock management:

As part of your role, you’ll take ownership of the canteen pantry between lunch and dinner service. This includes:

  • Restocking shelves, fridges and counters ready for the next service
  • Rotating stock using first in, first out (FIFO) to keep food fresh and reduce waste
  • Checking use-by and best-before dates and removing expired items
  • Monitoring stock levels and placing orders with suppliers to keep the canteen fully stocked
  • Planning orders around orders around headcount and item popularity to avoid shortages and minimise waste
  • Receiving and checking deliveries against orders, and raising any issues with suppliers
  • Keeping the pantry clean, organised and correctly labelled

Catering order management:

You’ll also be responsible for placing the canteen’s weekly catering orders. This includes:

  • Accurately inputting weekly lunch and dinner orders into our ordering system
  • Using headcount data to order appropriate quantities for each service
  • Adjusting orders based on feedback on waste and item popularity
  • Double-checking orders before submission to make sure they are complete and correct by the deadline

Full training will be provided on our ordering process and systems.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Bring a positive, can-do attitude to everything they do
  • Show genuine passion for delivering exceptional customer service
  • Excel as a supportive and collaborative team player
  • Demonstrate impeccable time management and reliability
  • Prioritise food safety in every task they undertake
  • Be organised and detail-orientated, with confidence in managing stock and placing orders
  • Previous experience in a similar catering role is a bonus, but enthusiasm is what truly matters
