Job Purpose

The Incumbent will be responsible for operating and monitoring the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) from the pulpit/control room to ensure safe, stable and continuous casting of billets as per required production and quality parameters.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor billet CCM from the control pulpit/HMI during casting operations.
• Monitor and control casting speed, mould level, tundish level and steel flow.
• Monitor mould cooling-water parameters including flow, pressure and temperature.
• Operate and monitor secondary cooling systems as per casting requirements.
• Monitor withdrawal, straightening and strand guide systems.
• Monitor and operate ladle turret and tundish-related controls as applicable.
• Monitor SEN/nozzle condition and steel flow during casting.
• Operate/monitor automatic torch cutting or billet cutting system.
• Monitor billet length, casting sequence and billet discharge.
• Respond promptly to alarms, trips, interlocks and abnormal casting conditions.
• Monitor and respond to breakout detection systems as per SOP/emergency procedures.
• Coordinate with EAF/LRF operators, tundish operators, CCM field operators and maintenance teams.
• Ensure stable casting conditions and minimize casting interruptions, breakouts and product defects.
• Maintain shift-wise operational records including casting speed, sequence, delays, alarms and production parameters.
• Follow approved SOPs, safety procedures, LOTO requirements and emergency operating procedures.
• Support troubleshooting and coordinate with Electrical, Instrumentation and Mechanical Maintenance teams during equipment abnormalities.
