If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy the open road, and are committed to safety and efficiency, this position is perfect for you!
Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with manual transmissions on over-the-road (OTR) routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport freight using specialized trailers such as flatbeds, tanker, refrigerated, or hazardous materials containers, including dangerous goods and hazardous substances.
- Utilize GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor progress, and adapt to road conditions for timely deliveries.
- Load and unload cargo manually or with equipment, ensuring proper securing of freight on step deck or flatbed trailers according to logistics cargo handling protocols.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and compliance records for all freight transported.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and safety teams to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and route adjustments.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with tractor-trailers on long-distance routes.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT requirements, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols for dangerous goods transportation.
- Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or other specialized equipment is preferred.
- Ability to handle manual handling tasks safely during loading/unloading processes.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient delivery schedules.
- Strong understanding of truck loading/unloading procedures and logistics cargo handling standards.
