CDL Class B Rear-Load Refuse Driver

Spindler Refuse Service is seeking an experienced CDL Class B Rear-Load Refuse Driver to join our team.

Applicants MUST have a valid CDL Class B and a minimum of 2 years of experience driving rear-load commercial refuse trucks.

This is a full-time, local driving position primarily servicing routes throughout Anne Arundel County, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Howard County, Carroll County, and Harford County. Drivers may occasionally be required to service additional areas based on operational needs, customer requirements, and expansion of our service territory.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a rear-load commercial refuse truck on assigned routes.
• Complete residential and/or commercial collection routes safely and efficiently.
• Work closely with helpers/loaders and other members of the route team.
• Safely maneuver the truck through residential neighborhoods, commercial properties, narrow streets, and collection areas.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Communicate with dispatch and management regarding route progress, missed collections, blocked containers, customer issues, and other route concerns.
• Transport collected material to designated disposal or transfer facilities.
• Follow all DOT regulations, company procedures, and safety requirements.
• Report equipment, maintenance, and safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain required paperwork and route documentation.
• Provide professional and courteous service while representing Spindler.
• Assist with other routes or service areas when operational needs require it.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class B – REQUIRED
• Minimum 2 years of experience driving rear-load commercial refuse trucks – REQUIRED
• Experience operating rear-load equipment and completing refuse collection routes.
• Safe and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to safely maneuver a large commercial vehicle in residential and commercial environments.
• Ability to work effectively with route helpers and other team members.
• Ability to perform the physical duties associated with refuse collection.
• Strong communication skills and professional attitude.
• Ability to follow route instructions and adapt to changes throughout the workday.

Applicants who do not have at least 2 years of rear-load commercial refuse truck driving experience will not be considered for this position.

Attendance & Reliability

Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position.

Our collection routes depend on having a complete and reliable team available each day. Spindler maintains a strict attendance and punctuality policy, and employees are expected to consistently report to work on time and as scheduled.

New employees will be subject to a probationary period, during which attendance, punctuality, safety, job performance, and overall reliability will be closely evaluated.

Excessive absenteeism, tardiness, or failure to comply with company attendance policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
