Responsibilities

• Safely operate flatbed tractor-trailers across assigned routes, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
• Load, secure, and unload freight using manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
• Transport various types of cargo, including freight requiring specialized handling like hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, or refrigerated trailers.
• Utilize GPS navigation systems to follow optimal routes for timely deliveries while maintaining awareness of road conditions and traffic updates.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and proper functioning of equipment such as manual transmissions or tanker attachments.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate delivery schedules, route adjustments, and cargo handling instructions.
• Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, inspection reports, and delivery documentation in compliance with DOT regulations.

Requirements

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmissions preferred.
• Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with flatbed trailers or similar freight transportation vehicles.
• Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures including load & unload operations and securing freight on flatbeds or tanker trucks.
• Familiarity with hazardous materials regulations (hazmat) and the proper handling of dangerous goods when applicable.
• Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning on over-the-road (OTR) routes.
• Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and safety standards for commercial driving.
• Physical ability to manually handle cargo loads safely and efficiently; forklift certification is a plus.
• Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, route driving efficiency, and customer service excellence.
