Ceiling Fixer

We are looking for an experienced Ceiling Fixer to join our team at Collister Northwest Ltd, working on a variety of commercial construction and refurbishment projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of ceiling installation, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, safely and within project deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation of suspended ceiling systems, including MF ceilings, lay-in grid ceilings and plasterboard ceilings.
• Installation of ceiling grids, tiles, hangers and associated components.
• Setting out ceiling levels and layouts in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Installation of ceiling bulkheads, access panels and associated finishing details.
• Carrying out alterations, repairs and maintenance to existing ceiling systems.
• Working from construction drawings and specifications.
• Ensuring all works are completed to a high standard and in accordance with health and safety requirements.
• Working alongside other trades to meet project programmes and deadlines.

The ideal candidate must have a flexible attitude towards work, be reliable, able to work independently or as part of a team, and be willing to work additional hours when required to meet tight project deadlines.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in ceiling fixing, preferably within commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• NVQ Level 2 or higher in Ceiling Fixing or a relevant construction trade.
• Proven experience installing suspended ceilings, MF systems and plasterboard ceilings.

Skills

• Excellent knowledge of ceiling fixing systems, materials and installation techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Good understanding of general construction and refurbishment works.
• Ability to work efficiently, accurately and to tight deadlines.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Understanding of other trades within the construction industry.

Hours of Work

Hours are varied depending on project requirements but are normally 10 hours per day, starting at 8:00 am.

Weekend and out-of-hours work may also be available.

Position

Self-employed basis.

Full-time work, subject to project requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Valid CSCS card (appropriate to trade).
• NVQ Level 2 or higher in Ceiling Fixing or relevant qualification.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant experience.
• Asbestos Awareness training (preferred).
• Manual Handling training (preferred).
• Own tools.
• Own transport/van (preferred).
• Willingness to travel to various project locations.
