Reporting directly to the Director - EDW, this position partners with data engineering, architecture, product, analytics, security, and operations teams to manage platform health, resolve production issues, support capacity planning, and enable new Microsoft Fabric features and capabilities in a controlled, reliable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operational health of the Fabric EDW environment, including uptime, availability, incident response, service continuity, and production readiness.
  • Monitor Fabric EDW workloads, pipelines, SQL endpoints, warehouses, lakehouses, semantic models, and related platform components to identify availability, latency, performance, and reliability risks.
  • Lead performance tuning activities for Fabric and SQL workloads, including query optimization, workload analysis, indexing or design recommendations where applicable, and root cause analysis of performance bottlenecks.
  • Perform capacity management for Fabric workloads, including utilization review, capacity planning, scaling recommendations, throttling analysis, and proactive identification of growth constraints.
  • Analyze Fabric cost drivers, usage patterns, capacity consumption, and operational trends; provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency without compromising availability or performance.
  • Establish and maintain monitoring, alerting, runbooks, operational dashboards, support procedures, and health checks for the Fabric EDW platform.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of production issues impacting EDW availability, data access, performance, capacity, or downstream reporting and analytics consumption.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and enable new Microsoft Fabric features and capabilities in partnership with architecture, security, governance, and engineering teams.
  • Define and promote operational standards, platform guardrails, naming conventions, support models, and best practices for Fabric EDW usage.
  • Partner with data engineers and integration teams to ensure new workloads are designed for maintainability, observability, performance, cost awareness, and production supportability.
  • Support data governance, access management, data protection, auditability, and compliance requirements for the Fabric EDW environment.
  • Mentor team members on Fabric operational practices, performance troubleshooting, capacity awareness, and production support expectations.
  • Communicate platform health, risks, incidents, recommendations, and operational priorities clearly to the EDW Director and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adhere to the Code of Conduct, Mission, and Value Statement.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Relevant experience in database administration, data platform operations, data warehousing, or enterprise data platform support.
  • Experience supporting production SQL Server, cloud data warehouse, analytics, or Microsoft Fabric environments.
  • Experience with operational monitoring, incident management, performance tuning, capacity planning, cost analysis, and production support processes.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including data engineering, architecture, analytics, product, security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders.
  • Healthcare, supply chain, GPO, enterprise analytics, or member-facing data platform experience is preferred.

Must Have Skills

  • Strong SQL and T-SQL skills, including query analysis, troubleshooting, stored procedures, views, execution plan review, and performance tuning.
