What they need

Certified Drainlayer - Auckland
$40-$50 per hour | 40+ hours | Quarterly bonus scheme | Vehicle | Registration fees paid
Join a trusted Auckland plumbing and drainage business known for fast response times, quality workmanship and getting the job done right the first time.

Our client is a well-established Auckland business founded in 2016. The team supports residential and commercial customers across Auckland, including Waiheke Island, providing drainage, plumbing maintenance, emergency call-outs, gas fitting, guttering, roofing, renovations, hot water systems and project work.

As the business continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Certified Drainlayer to join the team. This is a varied, hands-on role with a strong focus on drainage work, fault finding, repairs and installations across residential and commercial customers.

You’ll be joining a close-knit team where good people are well looked after, quality work is recognised and rewarded, and there are opportunities to continue developing your skills.

The Opportunity
You’ll work across a varied portfolio of residential and commercial customers throughout Auckland, taking responsibility for a broad range of drainage work.

Your day-to-day could include identifying and resolving drainage issues, repairs and maintenance, new drainage installations, alterations and upgrade work, alongside supporting wider plumbing and maintenance projects where required.

You’ll have the autonomy to manage your jobs and work independently, while having the support of an experienced team around you. The team gets together once a week to stay connected, coordinate upcoming work and make sure everyone has the support they need.

This is a full-time role offering a minimum of 40 hours per week, with the opportunity to work additional overtime when required. You’ll also participate in an on-call roster, helping the business maintain the responsive service its customers value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out residential and commercial drainage maintenance, repairs and installations.
  • Diagnose drainage faults and issues and provide practical, effective solutions.
  • Complete drainage work to the required standards and in line with your certification and registration.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across residential and commercial properties.
  • Support plumbing, renovations, hot water installations and other project work where required and within your qualifications.
  • Participate in the on-call roster and attend call-outs when required.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, property contacts and other trades.
  • Maintain accurate job records and documentation.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, health and safety and compliance.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and contribute positively to the wider team.
  • Take ownership of your work and deliver the quality and service customers have come to expect.

To be successful in this role, you'll bring:

  • New Zealand drainlaying qualifications and current certification/registration.
  • Solid hands-on drainage experience across maintenance, repairs and installations.
  • Experience working across residential and commercial environments.
  • Strong fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Plumbing and/or gasfitting qualifications or experience would be an advantage, but are not essential.
  • The confidence to work independently and manage your jobs effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach with customers.
  • A commitment to quality workmanship and getting the job done right the first time.
  • A positive, team-focused attitude.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.

What's on Offer

  • $40-$50 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and registration.
  • Minimum 40 hours per week, providing consistent and reliable hours.
  • Opportunity to earn more through overtime when required.
  • Quarterly bonus scheme.
  • Annual registration fees paid.
  • Phone and tools insurance reimbursement.
  • Fully stocked company vehicle.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • A varied mix of drainage, maintenance and project work.
  • A workplace where good people are well looked after and great work is recognised and rewarded.
  • The opportunity to join an established Auckland business that values its people, quality workmanship and great customer service.

If you’re a Certified Drainlayer who takes pride in your work and wants a role offering good variety, strong earning potential and a team that genuinely looks after its people, we’d like to hear from you.
