Job Summary

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
• Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Support medical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining aseptic techniques, and assisting with tasks such as catheter care or phlebotomy when trained.
• Ensure patient safety through proper manual handling techniques and safe lifting practices, including the use of equipment like Hoyer lifts.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical documentation and electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and address individual needs.
• Assist with patient transfer methods using appropriate techniques to prevent injury or discomfort.

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) from an accredited program.
• Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, or assisted living communities.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and basic life support (BLS).
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or complex health conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
• Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to engage with patients across all age groups including pediatrics and geriatrics.
• Physical stamina for heavy lifting, manual handling tasks, and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
