Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote independence and safety
• Implement treatment plans designed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring therapy goals are met effectively and efficiently
• Support pediatric clients with childhood developmental delays and occupational therapy for clients with autism or neurodevelopmental disorders
• Provide care documentation by accurately recording session details, progress notes, and care plans in compliance with healthcare standards
• Help facilitate patient transport within healthcare facilities or home health settings to ensure smooth transitions and continuous care
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and adjust care strategies tailored to each client’s needs
• Perform manual handling and safe patient transfers using proper techniques to prevent injury and ensure comfort during therapy sessions
• Engage in inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facility, or home health environments to deliver comprehensive occupational therapy services

Requirements

• Certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program is essential
• Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical imaging relevant to occupational therapy practices
• Experience in acute care, inpatient settings, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is advantageous
• Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and client interactions across diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatrics
• Ability to assist with ADLs and implement treatment plans confidently while maintaining patient safety at all times
• Familiarity with occupational health practices and the ability to adapt interventions for clients with complex needs such as autism or mobility impairments
• Knowledge of care documentation standards and proficiency in using electronic health records systems
