The COTA will work closely with a licensed Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapy Assistants, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to provide coordinated, individualized care that promotes children's independence, functional skills, sensory regulation, and overall development.

This is a part-time position with the possibility of transitioning to full-time, serving our locations in Port Saint Lucie and West Palm Beach, Florida, on different days.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children on the autism spectrum and a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized occupational therapy treatment plans developed by a licensed Occupational Therapist, focusing on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental delays.
  • Support the development of fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, sensory processing, self-regulation, and activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, and feeding.
  • Collaborate closely with Speech Therapy Assistants and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to promote consistency across therapy sessions and support children's communication, participation, and functional independence.
  • Coordinate with the OT, Speech Therapy Assistant, and RBT team to reinforce appropriate strategies and support individualized goals within each provider's scope of practice.
  • Implement sensory-based activities and therapeutic interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Utilize play-based and child-centered therapeutic activities to encourage participation, skill development, and positive interactions.
  • Help children develop greater independence in daily routines and functional activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment sessions, interventions, and patient progress in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers regarding therapy activities, progress, and strategies recommended by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and child-friendly therapeutic environment.
  • Participate in team communication and coordination to ensure continuity of care and alignment with each child's individualized treatment plan.

Experience

  • Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in the state of Florida.
  • Experience working with pediatric patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental delays preferred.
  • Experience in a pediatric outpatient therapy setting is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with sensory processing strategies, fine motor development, self-care skills, and developmental interventions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapy Assistants, and RBTs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Ability to implement individualized treatment plans and accurately document patient progress.
  • Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children with diverse developmental and sensory needs.
  • Ability to work at both Port Saint Lucie and West Palm Beach locations on different days.
