What they need

Personal Trainer

Ampersand Fitness | First Hill, Seattle, WA

About Ampersand Fitness

Ampersand Fitness is a community-focused fitness facility in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood. We believe in a well-rounded approach to health and wellness that brings together strength training, movement, recovery, and overall well-being.

We’re looking for a Personal Trainer who is passionate about helping people move better, build strength, develop confidence, and create sustainable fitness habits. We welcome trainers who enjoy working with a diverse clientele and want to grow their practice within an established fitness community.

This is an opportunity to build meaningful client relationships, collaborate with other fitness and wellness professionals, and help expand our services both inside our facility and throughout the surrounding community.

We welcome both newer and experienced trainers who are motivated to develop their skills, build a clientele, and contribute to a positive, inclusive training environment.

The Opportunity

This is a W-2 employee position with a tiered commission structure and opportunities to grow your clientele through in-house personal training, community outreach, and mobile services.

You’ll have the opportunity to connect with our existing fitness community while taking an active role in building your own client base. We believe growing a successful training practice is a team effort, and our staff works together to connect members and community clients with services that meet their goals.

Appointment scheduling is the trainer’s responsibility, with flexibility to coordinate sessions in a way that works for both you and your clients. Our team supports one another through collaboration, referrals when appropriate, and community connections.

Compensation and Earning Potential

Our tiered commission structure rewards trainers as their clientele grows.

Commission structure:

  • 40% commission: Starting rate.
  • 45% commission: At $4,000 in monthly personal training sales.
  • 50% commission: At $9,000 in monthly personal training sales.
  • 55% commission: Upon promotion to management or after achieving $12,000 in monthly personal training sales for two consecutive months.

Personal training pricing:

Our personal training rates start at $60 and range up to $120 per session, depending on the length of the session. These figures are a general pricing range rather than a fixed price list; packages and other service offerings may have different pricing. These are our current minimum pricing rates, if you feel this is not reflective of your skillset you have the freedom to set your own price points above our threshold.

Non-member services are priced at a 20% premium over applicable member rates. Off-site personal training services also start with a 20% premium added to applicable member rates, with additional pricing adjustments depending on the location and distance involved.

This structure provides opportunities to work with both our established membership community and clients from the surrounding Seattle area.

Team Environment and Collaboration

We value collaboration, communication, and mutual support. As a trainer, you’ll work alongside other fitness and wellness professionals who share an interest in helping clients feel stronger, move better, and build sustainable habits.

While you’ll be responsible for managing your appointment schedule and developing client relationships, you won’t be expected to grow entirely on your own. Our broader team is invested in helping one another succeed and creating a welcoming experience for every client.

We believe a strong fitness community is built by professionals who are willing to share knowledge, support one another, and help clients find the services that best meet their needs.

Training Specialties and Areas of Interest

We welcome a variety of training backgrounds and specialties, including:

  • General personal training and strength development
  • Functional fitness and movement
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Mobility and flexibility
  • Fitness for beginners
  • Exercise technique and movement education
  • General health, wellness, and sustainable fitness habits
  • Other complementary fitness specialties

You don’t need to specialize in every area listed. We’re interested in learning about your training background, strengths, coaching style, and the clients you enjoy working with.

Additional Front Desk Opportunities

Separately compensated, salary-based front desk shifts may be available depending on scheduling needs and your availability. These shifts can provide an additional earning opportunity while helping you connect with members, build relationships, and introduce people to our training services.

Who We’re Looking For

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Hold a recognized personal training certification appropriate to the role.
  • Enjoy working with people of diverse backgrounds, ages, fitness levels, and experiences.
  • Are comfortable building and maintaining your own client relationships.
  • Communicate professionally and collaborate well with other fitness and wellness professionals.
  • Are interested in community outreach, networking, and mobile services.
  • Bring a thoughtful, client-centered approach to coaching.
  • Value an inclusive, welcoming training environment.
  • Are excited about contributing to a growing fitness community.

Experience with community partnerships, group fitness, mobile training, or specialized coaching is a plus, but we’re open to conversations with trainers who are eager to learn and grow.

Why Ampersand Fitness?

  • An established fitness community and opportunities to connect with potential clients.
  • A collaborative team environment.
  • A tiered commission structure with opportunities for increased earnings.
  • Opportunities to help grow mobile personal training and fitness services.
  • The chance to build relationships with local businesses and residential communities.
  • A location in Seattle’s vibrant First Hill neighborhood.

Interested?

We’d love to learn about you, your coaching philosophy, the types of clients you enjoy working with, and the kind of professional environment in which you thrive.

If you’re looking for a place where you can build your clientele, collaborate with other wellness professionals, and help grow something meaningful, we’d love to hear from you.
