About the Opportunity

Davis Brothers Pharmacy is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician who enjoys helping patients and working as part of a close-knit team. As a locally owned, family pharmacy, we take pride in providing personal service and building lasting relationships with our patients.

You will support our pharmacists with daily prescription processing, pharmacy operations, and customer service in a busy retail pharmacy setting.

Previous experience as a retail pharmacy technician is required for all applicants. National certification is preferred but is not required at the time of hire for eligible candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation, including data entry, counting, packaging, and labeling medications for pharmacist verification.
• Maintain accurate patient profiles, prescription records, and insurance information.
• Process insurance claims, troubleshoot billing rejections, and communicate with insurers to help resolve coverage issues.
• Provide friendly, professional service at prescription drop-off and pickup, over the phone, and at the register.
• Handle refill requests and routine administrative communications with patients and prescribers within the technician's permitted role.
• Refer medication questions, requests for treatment advice, and counseling needs to the pharmacist.
• Monitor inventory, receive and stock orders, check expiration dates, and assist with returns.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked while following medication storage and handling procedures.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow pharmacy policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Work collaboratively, communicate concerns promptly, and provide coverage at both the New Cumberland and Chester locations as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience working as a pharmacy technician in a retail or community pharmacy. General retail or cashier experience alone does not meet this requirement.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current West Virginia pharmacy technician registration or eligibility to obtain the appropriate technician or trainee registration before performing technician duties.
• Familiarity with prescription processing, pharmacy computer systems, insurance billing, and common pharmacy terminology.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate data entry skills, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high-stress, fast-paced retail pharmacy environment while maintaining patient safety, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
• Clear communication, dependable attendance, and a patient, respectful approach to customer service.
• Ability to work effectively with pharmacists and fellow technicians.
• Ability to work at either pharmacy location as needed (rarely required).

Certification and On-the-Job Training

Certified Pharmacy Technicians are encouraged to apply. Applicants who are not yet nationally certified may also be considered if they already have retail pharmacy technician experience and qualify to work as a pharmacy technician trainee.

Eligible candidates may receive on-the-job training while preparing to take the national certification examination around the one-year mark, subject to West Virginia Board of Pharmacy training requirements and trainee permit deadlines. Required registration must remain active throughout employment.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
