What they need

Job Title: Certified Pharmacy Technician – Data Entry

Company: United Community Pharmacy

Location: Saint Anthony, MN

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday + One Saturday Per Month

Compensation: $22.00–$27.50/hour DOE

You Earned Your CPhT. What If You Could Spend More of Your Day Actually Using It?

You know the routine.

You're entering a prescription when the phone rings.

Someone needs the register.

There's a question at pickup.

Another prescription drops into the queue.

Someone needs help finding something.

And somehow, you're supposed to keep every prescription moving accurately while being pulled in five different directions.

If you've built your pharmacy career at Walgreens, CVS, Cub Foods, Hy-Vee, Walmart, Target/CVS, or another busy retail pharmacy, we want to introduce you to a different side of pharmacy.

United Community Pharmacy is hiring an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) to join our team in Saint Anthony with a primary focus on prescription data entry and medication order processing.

Keep the Pharmacy. Change the Environment.

Your retail experience has probably taught you more than you realize.

You've learned how to read and process prescriptions quickly.

You've caught missing information before it became a bigger problem.

You've worked through insurance issues, refill requests, medication changes, interruptions, and a prescription queue that never seems to stop growing.

You've learned how to be fast without becoming careless.

Those skills translate extremely well to our pharmacy.

The biggest difference?

This is a closed-door long-term care pharmacy environment, not a traditional retail pharmacy.

That means your primary focus can shift away from the retail side of the business and toward the operational side of pharmacy.

More prescription processing. More data entry. More pharmacy operations.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

You'll help keep medication orders moving for assisted living communities, memory care communities, group homes, and other healthcare organizations throughout Minnesota.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • High-volume prescription and medication order data entry
  • Processing new prescriptions, refills, renewals, clarifications, and medication changes
  • Maintaining accurate patient medication profiles
  • Reviewing incoming orders for completeness before pharmacist verification
  • Identifying discrepancies and helping resolve prescription questions
  • Communicating with pharmacists, nurses, providers, and healthcare teams
  • Supporting medication fulfillment and long-term care pharmacy workflows
  • Following pharmacy procedures, HIPAA requirements, and applicable regulations

Retail Pharmacy Prepared You for This.

If you've spent the last several years working at a busy retail pharmacy, don't underestimate how valuable that experience can be.

You already understand urgency.

You already know prescription terminology.

You already know what happens when one small detail is entered incorrectly.

You already know how to prioritize when the queue gets busy.

And you've probably developed the ability to concentrate with a lot happening around you.

Now imagine taking those skills into a role where data entry and prescription processing are actually the focus of your position.

This Could Be the Right Move If...

You still like pharmacy.

You still enjoy medications, problem-solving, accuracy, and working alongside pharmacists.

You're just ready for something different than traditional retail.

Maybe you're tired of bouncing between the prescription queue and everything else happening around the pharmacy.

Maybe you've realized that data entry is actually one of the parts of your job you're best at.

Or maybe you're simply curious what pharmacy looks like outside of a retail store.

You don't have to leave the profession you've worked hard to build.

You can take your experience somewhere new.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification
  • Active Minnesota Pharmacy Technician registration
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience
  • Previous prescription processing/data entry experience
  • Strong computer and keyboarding skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain accuracy while working through a high-volume queue

Retail pharmacy experience is absolutely welcome.

If your background includes Walgreens, CVS, Cub Foods, Hy-Vee, Walmart, Target/CVS, or another community pharmacy, your experience may translate extremely well.

Previous long-term care or closed-door pharmacy experience is helpful, but you don't need to already come from long-term care to make the switch.

What Changes Here

  • $22.00–$27.50/hour, depending on experience
  • Monday through Friday
  • Only one Saturday per month
  • A role centered heavily around prescription data entry and medication processing
  • A closed-door pharmacy environment
  • No traditional retail checkout counter
  • Opportunity to work closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals
  • Exposure to long-term care medication management and pharmacy operations
  • A chance to expand your pharmacy career beyond traditional retail

Maybe You're Not Tired of Pharmacy. Maybe You're Tired of Retail Pharmacy.

You've already invested the time to learn medications, pharmacy systems, prescription processing, insurance, terminology, and the importance of getting every detail right.

Don't throw that experience away.

Bring it with you.

If you're an experienced Certified Pharmacy Technician who enjoys the technical side of pharmacy and wants to see what your career could look like outside of retail, we'd love to meet you.

Email Elena Ehrlich at [email protected] with your resume and a brief introduction highlighting your pharmacy technician experience and what interests you about making the move from retail into long-term care pharmacy.
