We are seeking an experienced CPA with strong multi-entity accounting experience to oversee the accounting and financial structure of several related companies operating simultaneously.

This is not a basic bookkeeping or tax-preparation position.

The CPA must have experience working with multiple LLCs and corporations under one business structure and understand how to properly maintain separation between entities while managing transactions, expenses, payments, and financial reporting across the organization.

Scope of WorkMulti-Entity Accounting & Structure

  • Oversee accounting for multiple related companies simultaneously
  • Maintain separate and accurate books for each legal entity
  • Ensure proper separation of income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and bank accounts between companies
  • Properly record and reconcile transactions between related companies
  • Manage and document intercompany payments, reimbursements, loans, management fees, and other intercompany transactions
  • Maintain accurate intercompany due-to / due-from balances
  • Assist management in determining which company should properly recognize specific revenue and expenses
  • Maintain clear financial records showing the relationship and transactions between each entity
  • Help establish accounting procedures that preserve appropriate separation between companies

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare individual Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets for each company
  • Prepare consolidated or combined management reporting when appropriate
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Review General Ledgers for accuracy
  • Provide management with a clear financial picture of each individual company as well as the overall business operation
  • Identify discrepancies or transactions recorded under the incorrect entity

Tax Planning & Compliance

  • Manage federal and California tax compliance for multiple business entities
  • Coordinate tax filings and deadlines across all companies
  • Prepare or oversee business tax returns
  • Provide ongoing tax planning rather than only year-end tax preparation
  • Review the tax implications of transactions between related entities
  • Coordinate 1099s, W-2s, payroll tax reporting, and other required filings
  • Assist management with maintaining proper documentation in the event of an audit or tax inquiry

Internal Accounting Controls

  • Develop accounting procedures for how money should move between companies
  • Establish procedures for documenting intercompany transactions
  • Review company payments and accounting classifications for accuracy
  • Help prevent improper commingling of funds between entities
  • Establish consistent accounting and recordkeeping procedures across the organization
  • Work with internal bookkeeping/accounting staff and provide oversight when necessary

Management & Advisory

  • Work directly with ownership and management on the financial organization of the companies
  • Provide guidance regarding accounting implications when establishing new entities or changing the existing business structure
  • Assist management with budgeting, cash-flow planning, and financial forecasting
  • Identify potential tax, accounting, or financial risks within the multi-company structure
  • Recommend improvements to accounting systems and internal financial processes

Required Qualifications

  • Active CPA license
  • Strong experience managing accounting for multiple related business entities simultaneously
  • Experience with LLCs, corporations, and multi-entity business structures
  • Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and related-party transactions
  • Experience preparing separate and consolidated financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of federal and California business taxation
  • Advanced QuickBooks experience or experience with comparable multi-entity accounting systems
  • Strong understanding of internal accounting controls and entity separation
  • Ability to work directly with ownership and senior management
  • Construction, real estate, manufacturing, financing, or home-improvement industry experience is a strong plus

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who can look at several related companies and understand the entire financial structure — not simply maintain separate QuickBooks files.

The ideal CPA will help us maintain clean books for every entity, properly account for transactions between companies, maintain appropriate separation between entities, and provide management with accurate financial reporting across the entire organization.
