Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during open surgical procedures and minimally invasive techniques by providing hands-on support with tissue retraction, suturing, and instrument handling
• Prepare the operating room by ensuring all surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment are sterile, functional, and ready for use
• Support perioperative care by monitoring vital signs, maintaining aseptic technique, and managing patient positioning throughout surgery
• Collaborate with the healthcare team on discharge planning and post-operative care instructions to optimize patient recovery
• Ensure hospital infection prevention protocols are strictly followed to uphold patient safety standards

Requirements

• Valid certification as a Surgical First Assistant from an accredited program
• High school diploma or GED certification
• Completion of surgical scrub technician course Completion / certification
• 1-2 years Operating room experience; ASC experience preferred
• BLS certification
