Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) / Sterile Processing Technician (SPD) to join our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) team.
This dual-role position is responsible for supporting safe and efficient surgical procedures while ensuring the proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in an outpatient surgical setting, demonstrate strong knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention practices, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Surgical Technologist Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning properly.</li>
<li>Assist the surgical team by maintaining a sterile field throughout procedures.</li>
<li>Anticipate the needs of surgeons and provide instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently.</li>
<li>Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse in accordance with facility policies.</li>
<li>Assist with patient positioning, preparation, and draping as appropriate.</li>
<li>Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection prevention standards.</li>
<li>Assist with operating room turnover to support efficient surgical schedules.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with surgeons, nursing staff, anesthesia providers, and other team members.</li>
<li>Identify and promptly report equipment malfunctions, instrument issues, and patient safety concerns.</li>
</ul>
Sterile Processing Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.</li>
<li>Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use (IFUs) and facility policies.</li>
<li>Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage.</li>
<li>Assemble surgical instrument trays accurately based on established count sheets and procedure requirements.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate sterilization records, including biological and chemical indicator monitoring and load documentation.</li>
<li>Ensure proper storage, handling, and distribution of sterile supplies and instruments.</li>
<li>Monitor instrument inventory and communicate repair, replacement, and supply needs.</li>
<li>Follow applicable infection prevention guidelines, AAMI standards, and regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Assist with maintaining survey readiness and compliance with applicable accreditation standards.</li>
<li>Support efficient instrument turnaround to meet daily surgical case demands.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications and Requirements
Required:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or GED.</li>
<li>Completion of an accredited or recognized Surgical Technology program, or equivalent qualifying experience as permitted by applicable state law.</li>
<li>Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential, if required for the position.</li>
<li>Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and infection prevention practices.</li>
<li>Understanding of instrument decontamination, sterilization processes, and sterile storage.</li>
<li>Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced ambulatory surgical environment.</li>
<li>Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.</li>
<li>Ability to maintain attention to detail while prioritizing patient safety.</li>
</ul>
Preferred:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an operating room or ambulatory surgery center.</li>
<li>Experience performing both surgical technologist and sterile processing duties.</li>
<li>Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification.</li>
<li>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.</li>
<li>Experience with surgical instrument tracking systems and sterilization documentation.</li>
<li>Familiarity with ASC accreditation requirements and infection control standards.</li>
</ul>
Physical Requirements
<ul>
<li>Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.</li>
<li>Ability to lift, carry, and move surgical instruments, equipment, and supply trays in accordance with facility safety policies.</li>
<li>Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary for handling delicate surgical instruments.</li>
<li>Ability to work in environments requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).</li>
<li>Ability to perform duties involving exposure to cleaning agents, biological materials, and other conditions commonly encountered in surgical settings.</li>
</ul>

<li>Demonstrate flexibility in supporting both operating room and sterile processing workflows based on daily surgical volume and facility needs.</li>
<li>Ability and willingness to travel between our two facility locations in Allen and Frisco, Texas, as needed to support operational needs.</li>
