Full-Time Structural Welder / Pipe Fitter

About the Role

United Distributors is seeking a skilled, safety-focused full-time Welder who is qualified for structural welding and has solid pipe fitting experience. You will fabricate, fit, and weld structural steel components as well as pipe systems to code and company standards. This is a hands-on role based in Filer, Idaho.

What You’ll Do

• Perform structural steel welding in accordance with AWS D1.1 requirements (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions as needed).
• Fit, align, and assemble pipe and structural components prior to welding using proper layout, measurement, and clamping techniques.
• Weld pipe and structural members using processes such as SMAW (stick), FCAW (flux-core), GMAW (MIG), and/or GTAW (TIG) as required by the work.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Perform visual inspections of your own welds and ensure work meets quality standards and applicable codes.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
• Support fabrication, assembly, and installation tasks as needed.

Requirements

• Current AWS D1.1 structural welding qualification/certification (or equivalent ability to pass company D1.1 weld tests). Multi-position qualification preferred.
• Proven experience in pipe fitting and welding (layout, fit-up, and welding of pipe systems).
• Strong ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.
• Proficiency with relevant welding processes (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and/or GTAW).
• Commitment to safety and willingness to follow all OSHA and company safety rules.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and company weld test.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work full-time.

Preferred

• Additional pipe-related qualifications (e.g., ASME Section IX experience or 5G/6G pipe testing).
• Experience with structural steel fabrication, heavy plate, or industrial piping.
• Formal welding training or apprenticeship completion.
• Valid driver’s license.
