What they need
Remote anywhere in New Zealand | Occasional travel to South Canterbury
We’re partnering with a well-established New Zealand organisation undergoing a significant business transformation to find an experienced Change Manager to lead the people side of a major ERP implementation.
This is a hands-on change role where you’ll work closely with the transformation team, project leaders, business process owners and subject matter experts to ensure people are prepared for new systems, processes and ways of working. You’ll be responsible for understanding the impact of the ERP programme across the organisation, assessing readiness, developing change interventions and helping leaders successfully embed change within their teams.
The role can be based anywhere in New Zealand and worked remotely, although you’ll need to be comfortable with occasional travel to the organisation’s South Canterbury operations. Travel costs will be covered.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll take ownership of change management activities across the ERP programme, working alongside the wider project and transformation teams. This will include:
- Developing and delivering a comprehensive ERP change plan aligned with the wider project programme
- Conducting change impact and business readiness assessments across different teams and functions
- Identifying change risks, resistance and barriers to adoption, and developing practical mitigation strategies
- Building detailed change implementation plans covering milestones, activities and dependencies
- Identifying and engaging key stakeholder groups across the organisation
- Developing communication, engagement and change activities that help people understand what is changing and why
- Coaching and supporting leaders and subject matter experts to prepare their teams for new systems and processes
- Working closely with training resources to coordinate learning and capability-building activities
- Monitoring business readiness and adoption throughout the programme
- Tracking and reporting on change activities, risks, issues and progress
- Gathering feedback from impacted teams and adapting the change approach where required
- Helping ensure the new ERP solution is effectively adopted rather than simply technically implemented.
What we’re looking for
This role needs someone who has already worked through the complexity of a large technology transformation or ERP implementation and understands what successful organisational change looks like in practice.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Proven change management experience within a significant ERP or enterprise technology programme
- A recognised change management certification such as Prosci, APMG, ACMP or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of established change management frameworks, methodologies and tools
- Experience conducting change impact assessments and business readiness assessments
- Experience developing and delivering stakeholder engagement and communication plans
- Strong influencing skills and the confidence to work with executives, project teams, operational leaders and frontline employees
- Experience preparing users for significant system and process change
- A strong understanding of adoption, readiness and change measurement
- The ability to work independently while operating as part of a broader transformation programme
- Strong judgement around when to challenge, influence, coach or escalate.
Experience working within utilities, electricity or infrastructure environments would be useful but isn’t essential. Previous exposure to a Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation would also be particularly valuable.
Why consider this role?
This is an opportunity to play a central role in a substantial ERP transformation, with genuine ownership of how the organisation prepares for and adopts the change.
You’ll be joining an established transformation function rather than operating as a standalone change resource, working alongside project management, business analysis, change and training capability. The organisation is looking for someone who can bring structure and methodology while still being pragmatic, commercially aware and comfortable working directly with people across the business.
The flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in New Zealand makes this particularly suited to an experienced ERP Change Manager who is comfortable working autonomously and travelling periodically when face-to-face engagement will make the biggest difference.
