Chargeman A4 / Electrical Chargeman

Location: Putrajaya

Job Purpose

To supervise, operate, maintain, and ensure the safe and reliable operation of electrical installations and equipment within the premises in accordance with applicable electrical safety requirements, company procedures, and Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations.

Key Responsibilities1. Electrical Operation & Maintenance

• Operate and monitor electrical systems, switchboards, distribution boards, transformers, generators, and related electrical equipment.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical installations.
• Conduct routine inspection and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
• Identify electrical faults and perform troubleshooting and rectification.
• Ensure electrical equipment is maintained in safe and reliable operating condition.

2. Chargeman Duties

• Take charge of the electrical installation within the scope of the appointed competency.
• Ensure electrical installation activities are carried out safely and according to approved procedures.
• Monitor electrical load, power quality, and system performance.
• Maintain proper records of electrical operations, inspections, testing, maintenance, and breakdowns.
• Coordinate electrical shutdowns, switching operations, and restoration of power supply.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety regulations, company policies, and statutory requirements.
• Implement safe working practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) where applicable.
• Ensure electrical work is performed by competent and authorized personnel.
• Conduct or assist with electrical safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Report electrical hazards, incidents, defects, and unsafe conditions promptly.
• Support internal and external electrical inspections and audits.

4. Preventive Maintenance

• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for electrical systems.
• Inspect cables, breakers, contactors, relays, motors, lighting systems, earthing systems, and other electrical components.
• Coordinate servicing and testing by contractors or specialist vendors where required.
• Follow up on defects and ensure corrective actions are completed.

5. Emergency & Breakdown Response

• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies.
• Diagnose faults and restore electrical supply safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate with maintenance personnel and contractors during major breakdowns.
• Participate in emergency response, generator operation, and power restoration activities where applicable.

6. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain electrical logbooks and maintenance records.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on electrical operations and maintenance.
• Record energy consumption, equipment readings, faults, repairs, and inspections.
• Ensure statutory and technical documentation is properly maintained.

7. Team & Contractor Supervision

• Supervise electrical technicians and maintenance personnel when assigned.
• Coordinate with contractors for electrical installation, maintenance, testing, and repair works.
• Verify that contractors follow site safety requirements and approved work procedures.
• Provide technical guidance to maintenance personnel.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Chargeman A4 competency certification issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga Malaysia.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant electrical maintenance/operation experience, preferably in commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or facility environments.
• Good knowledge of electrical distribution systems, switchboards, protection systems, motors, generators, and related equipment.
• Able to troubleshoot electrical faults effectively.
• Knowledge of electrical safety, LOTO, preventive maintenance, and risk assessment.
• Able to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and wiring diagrams.
• Willing to work shifts, standby, weekends, or public holidays when required.
• Physically fit and able to work in plant/facility environments.

Working Conditions

The position may require working in electrical rooms, plant areas, machinery areas, rooftops, and other facility locations. The Chargeman may be required to work on a shift, standby, overtime, or emergency-call basis depending on operational requirements.

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
