Chargeman A4

About the role

The Chargeman A4 is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and monitoring of electrical and building services systems. The role ensures that electrical systems, M&E equipment and building facilities are maintained in accordance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements, applicable safety regulations, company procedures and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and M&E equipment, including electrical distribution systems, air-conditioning systems, fire protection systems, plumbing systems and other building facilities.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure facilities and equipment remain safe, reliable and operational.
• Perform regular testing and maintenance of generators (gensets) according to the approved schedule and ensure the genset is operational during TNB power failures.
• Conduct electrical testing, inspection, and maintenance within the scope of the Chargeman A4 competency and ensure compliance with applicable electricity and safety regulations.
• Monitor the performance and workmanship of subcontractors and ensure all works are completed according to contract requirements, specifications, safety standards and agreed timelines.
• Assist in the installation, modification, upgrading, and commissioning of M&E systems within buildings, premises and properties.
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and facilities regularly to identify unsafe, defective or malfunctioning conditions and take appropriate corrective action.
• Troubleshoot equipment and system failures, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions, maintenance improvements and cost-saving opportunities.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, emergencies, and customer or tenant complaints and take appropriate action to minimize disruption.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, maintenance activities, equipment breakdowns and corrective actions.

About you

• Valid Chargeman A4 Competency Certificate issued by Suruhanjaya Tenaga.
• Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Technical/Vocational Studies, Polytechnic or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in facilities, electrical, or M&E maintenance, preferably in high-rise buildings, shopping malls, commercial buildings or similar facilities.
• Good knowledge of electrical systems, building services, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of safety requirements, electrical regulations, and good maintenance practices.
• Able to work independently and respond effectively to emergency situations and equipment breakdowns.
• Good communication skills in both Bahasa Malaysia and English, both written and spoken.
• Good problem-solving, troubleshooting and interpersonal skills.
• Willing to work on shifts, weekends, public holidays, and standby/on-call duties when required.
