About the role

Pacific Quartz (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Chargeman BO (33kV) to join our operations team at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the safe operation, maintenance, and performance of our 33kV electrical systems and infrastructure. As a key member of our Power Generation & Distribution operations, the Chargeman BO will be responsible for ensuring optimal energy delivery, equipment integrity, and strict adherence to safety protocols that underpin our facility's operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and manage the daily operations of 33kV electrical systems, including switching operations, load distribution, and system monitoring
• Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance of 33kV switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and associated equipment
• Monitor electrical parameters and performance metrics, identifying and reporting anomalies or deviations to senior management
• Respond promptly to electrical faults, outages, or emergency situations, implementing corrective actions and coordinating with technical teams
• Maintain comprehensive operational logs, maintenance records, and documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards
• Conduct safety briefings and ensure all team members adhere to electrical safety protocols and procedures
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to plan and execute scheduled maintenance and system upgrades
• Train and supervise junior electrical operators and support staff on operational procedures and safety practices
• Prepare reports on system performance, equipment condition, and operational incidents
• Liaise with external contractors and utility providers as required for system connectivity and compliance matters

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5-7 years of experience working with medium to high voltage electrical systems (33kV or equivalent) in an industrial or utility environment
• Valid electrical license or certification as a Chargeman or equivalent qualification recognised in Malaysia
• Strong knowledge of 33kV electrical distribution systems, switchgear operation, and protection systems
• Comprehensive understanding of electrical safety standards, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and ISO/IEC standards applicable to power distribution
• Proven experience in conducting electrical fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution
• Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience managing electrical operations teams
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to document incidents and technical findings clearly
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices with a proactive approach to hazard identification and risk management
• Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to emergency situations
• Proficiency in computer systems for operational logging and report generation is advantageous
• Knowledge of power generation or industrial high-voltage systems is preferred
