Chargeman

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Chargeman to join our plant maintenance team. You will perform hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems to ensure safe and continuous plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plant Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform scheduled routine maintenance, calibration, and prompt troubleshooting of electrical, electronic, and PLC systems across production lines.
• Safety & Compliance: Execute power isolations and normalisations strictly following standard operating procedures (SOPs), and adhere to the Electricity Supply Act 1990 and Electricity Regulations 1994.
• Equipment Upkeep: Monitor switchgears, distribution transformers, variable speed drives (VSD), soft starters, gen-sets, and thermal scanning of power equipment.
• Team Support & Leadership (Shift Leader Role): Lead shift groups during maintenance or breakdowns, assign daily manpower, and coordinate closely with engineers, supervisors, and production teams.
• Quality & Housekeeping: Maintain 5S standards, ISO compliance, and proper housekeeping within electrical rooms (ERs) and sub-stations.
• Ad-Hoc Tasks: Carry out any other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the superiors.

About you

• Qualifications:

  • Medium Voltage Chargeman Certificate of Competency from Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission), OR/AND Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on working experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing plant environment.

• Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in reading electrical drawings and schematic diagrams.
  • Capable of troubleshooting electrical/electronic faults with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with switchgear operations, power cable termination, and PLC systems.

• Soft Skills & Computer Literacy:

  • Good communication and organizational skills, self-motivated, and computer literate.
  • Able to work independently as well as lead a team.

• Work Conditions:

  • Able to work in 3 rotating shifts and perform overtime when required.
