CHARGEMAN

1. Job Purpose

To ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the company's electrical installations, equipment and utilities. The Chargeman is responsible for carrying out electrical inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring compliance with Malaysian electrical safety regulations, and supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Installation and Maintenance

• Operate, inspect and maintain electrical installations, switchboards, distribution panels, motors, wiring systems and other electrical equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimise equipment breakdowns and production downtime.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and implement appropriate corrective actions.
• Monitor the condition and performance of electrical systems, including generators, transformers and other electrical utilities, where applicable.
• Ensure electrical installations are maintained in safe and satisfactory working condition.

B. Plant Utilities and Facilities

• Support the maintenance and reliable operation of plant utilities and building facilities.
• Coordinate electrical maintenance activities with the Engineering and Production teams to minimise disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Monitor electrical consumption and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
• Assist in emergency response and restoration of electrical services during breakdowns or power interruptions.

C. Safety and Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure electrical work is carried out in accordance with applicable Electricity Supply Act 1990, Electricity Regulations 1994, Occupational Safety and Health requirements, and relevant Suruhanjaya Tenaga requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Conduct routine electrical inspections and maintain records of maintenance activities, testing and statutory inspections.
• Ensure contractors comply with site safety requirements and approved work procedures.
• Report electrical hazards, unsafe conditions and incidents promptly.

D. GMP and Documentation

• Comply with applicable GMP requirements, company SOPs and engineering procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, electrical inspections and equipment servicing.
• Support internal and external audits, including GMP and regulatory inspections, where applicable.
• Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and completed in accordance with approved procedures.
• Support equipment qualification, calibration and validation activities when required by the Engineering or Quality Assurance departments.

E. Coordination and Reporting

• Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and other relevant departments on maintenance schedules and operational requirements.
• Supervise electrical maintenance contractors and service providers where required.
• Report equipment breakdowns, maintenance progress, recurring faults and outstanding issues to the Engineering Manager.
• Assist in spare-parts monitoring, maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform other engineering and maintenance duties assigned by management.

3. Requirements and Qualifications

• Possess a valid Chargeman competency certificate issued or recognised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga, in the appropriate category for the company's electrical installations.
• Possess a Certificate, Diploma or other relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology or an equivalent field will be an advantage.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Experience in pharmaceutical, food, chemical or other regulated manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of electrical systems, preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis and electrical safety procedures.
• Familiarity with GMP documentation, SOPs, maintenance records and audit requirements is an advantage.
• Able to work independently, troubleshoot problems and coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Responsible, safety-conscious, disciplined and able to work under operational deadlines.
• Willing to support emergency breakdowns, scheduled maintenance and overtime when required.

Pay: RM2,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per hour
