Key Responsibilities

  1. Accounting & Financial Reporting
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, journal entries, bank reconciliations and ledger scrutiny.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing.
  • Prepare monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and management reports.
  • Maintain proper accounting records for sales, purchases, inventory, fixed assets, expenses and liabilities.
  • Review accounting entries, supporting documents and internal financial records.
  1. GST, Income Tax & Statutory Compliance
  • Manage GST compliance, including GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, input tax credit reconciliation and annual returns, as applicable.
  • Handle TDS/TCS calculations, deductions, payments, returns and reconciliations.
  • Coordinate income tax return preparation, tax audits, statutory audits and other applicable assessments.
  • Ensure timely filing of MCA and other statutory forms in coordination with the relevant professionals.
  • Handle departmental notices, reconciliations and responses, in consultation with management and external tax advisers where required.
  • Identify tax-saving opportunities within the applicable legal framework.
  1. Working Capital & Cash Flow Management
  • Monitor customer outstanding balances and ensure timely collections.
  • Track vendor payments, payment schedules and credit periods.
  • Prepare weekly cash flow statements and monthly cash flow forecasts.
  • Monitor working capital requirements and identify opportunities to improve cash conversion.
  • Reconcile customer and supplier accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Help management monitor credit exposure and overdue receivables.
  1. Inventory, Sales & Purchase Controls
  • Reconcile physical inventory with accounting and stock records.
  • Monitor purchase bills, sales invoices, credit notes, debit notes and stock adjustments.
  • Review product-wise margins, purchase costs and sales profitability.
  • Verify vendor invoices, payment approvals and supporting documents.
  • Establish controls to minimise accounting errors, duplicate payments, inventory discrepancies and revenue leakage.
  1. Management Reporting & Business Analysis
  • Prepare monthly MIS reports covering revenue, gross margins, expenses, profitability and cash flow.
  • Analyse product-wise, customer-wise and business-segment-wise profitability.
  • Prepare budgets and compare actual performance against budgets.
  • Highlight unusual expenses, declining margins, delayed collections and financial risks.
  • Provide management with actionable financial insights rather than only accounting data.
  1. Audit, Internal Controls & Process Improvement
  • Coordinate with statutory auditors, tax consultants, banks and other financial professionals.
  • Maintain organised documentation for audits, assessments and financial reviews.
  • Strengthen internal controls over purchases, sales, expenses, payments and collections.
  • Improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy and compliance tracking.
  • Ensure the accounts team follows proper approval and documentation procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) from ICAI.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience, preferably after qualification.
  • Strong practical knowledge of GST, TDS, income tax, accounting standards and statutory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with Tally Prime, Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, working capital and cash flow management.
