About the role
Comuna Canitna is seeking 1 experienced Chef to join our team in our brand new venue in Newstead. As the Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our kitchen, ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery of meals. This is a full-time role based in Newstead.

What you'll be doing

• Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and budgeting
• Ensure the kitchen adheres to all food safety and hygiene regulations
• Hire, develop and manage the kitchen team
• Oversee the training and development of kitchen staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
• Collaborate with the front-of-house team to align kitchen and service operations
• Implement and monitor systems and procedures to optimise kitchen efficiency
• Develop and refine menu items to meet customer demands and dietary requirements
• Manage food cost and wastage to maintain profitability

What we're looking for

• 2 years of experience as a Chef, Kitchen Manager, or equivalent role in the hospitality industry
• Excellent knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work under pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Relevant qualifications in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts
