Position Summary

The Chef plans and organises the preparation and cooking of food at The Depot Bondi, working across menu input, kitchen operations, food cost control, and quality/hygiene standards in a busy café/restaurant environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order food supplies

• Prepare and cook food to the venue's standard

• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

• Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking procedures

• Assist in directing the food preparation and cooking activities of other kitchen staff during service

• Contribute to menu content decisions, adjusting for seasonality and customer demand

• Discuss food preparation issues with management and front-of-house staff

• Follow and enforce food safety and hygiene regulations in line with NSW Food Authority requirements

• Support stock control and minimise wastage to help meet food cost targets

Skills and Experience Required

• Trade qualification in commercial cookery (Certificate III/IV) or equivalent, plus relevant work experience

• Minimum 3 years' full-time experience working as a Chef

• Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP principles, and kitchen operations
