Chef

Nightjar in Berea is hiring a Head Chef.

We opened a burger & cocktail spot inside Native Bagel Company in late 2021 and are now looking to hire a new head chef. From slinging smashburgers to helping create our menu specials, this position will be a key member of our small-but-mighty kitchen crew.

We are looking for someone with solid kitchen experience who has also managed kitchen staff. Tasks include ensuring the kitchen is fully prepped and ready for service each day, creating menu features, weekly ordering, delegating tasks to kitchen staff, working the line during service, and ensuring the kitchen is sparkling clean at the end of each night.

We offer a competitive salary, pooled tips with all staff (FOH and BOH - most weeks that puts total pay closer to $18/hr, with $23+/hr on busy nights), a set schedule with two consecutive days off, free shift meals and gift cards, a friendly, low-drama work environment, and room to be creative.

About us
We are a creative, can-do shop with big plans. From our start as a bagel cart at Berea Farmer’s Market ten years ago to our sweet location in downtown Berea, we have worked hard to create a welcoming vibe, cozy space, and, of course, top-notch food and drinks. We work every day to create the kind of community we want to live in through the way we do business- at Native Bagel Company and Nightjar, we strive to be a great place to work, dine, and connect.
