About the role

Victor Churchill is seeking a talented and experienced Chef to join our culinary team on a full-time basis at our location in Mascot, NSW 2020. As a Chef, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional dining experiences through your expertise, creativity, and passion for food preparation. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a dynamic hospitality environment whilst working alongside industry professionals who share your commitment to culinary excellence.

What you'll be doing

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes, culinary standards, and the brand quality guidelines
• Oversee food preparation activities, including washing, peeling, cutting, and cooking of ingredients
• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen workspace at all times, adhering to food safety and health regulations
• Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure every dish meets the establishment's high standards before service
• Manage mise en place and ensure all ingredients and cooking equipment are prepared and readily available
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure efficient workflow during service periods
• Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and communicate stock requirements to management
• Follow plating and presentation techniques to deliver visually appealing dishes
• Adapt recipes and cooking methods as required whilst maintaining consistency and quality
• Support the development and refinement of menu offerings and specials

What we're looking for

• Proven professional experience working as a Chef or in a similar culinary role within a commercial kitchen environment
• Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and culinary best practices
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and health regulations in hospitality settings
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Physical stamina and the capability to work extended hours whilst standing for prolonged periods
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality food presentation
• Culinary qualifications or certifications from a recognised institution are advantageous
• Demonstrated passion for food and continuous improvement in culinary skills
• Experience in menu planning and recipe development would be beneficial
