What they need
About the role
Reporting to the Executive Chef, you'll be a skilled, reliable and passionate contributor to the Rockpool kitchen team. You'll prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals following our menus and standards, always with an eye on presentation, dietary requirements and the resident experience.
This is a hands-on cooking role with regular hours, a supportive kitchen culture, and the genuine satisfaction of knowing your food makes a real difference to people's daily lives.
About Rockpool Residential Aged Care
Rockpool Residential Aged Care is a boutique provider, proudly Queensland owned. We believe great careers and great care go hand in hand. Our My Day My Way model of care puts the people we care for at the centre of everything, shaping their days around their choices, not our routines.
This philosophy shapes how we work and what makes a career at Rockpool different: purpose that matters, contemporary leadership that backs you, beautiful modern homes designed for the people in them, smart technology that frees you to focus on people, and room to grow with Queensland's fastest-growing provider.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare and cook meals to Rockpool's quality standards — nutritious, well-presented and tailored to resident dietary and cultural needs
- Follow menus, recipes and production schedules as directed by the Executive Chef
- Prepare meals for diverse dietary requirements including texture-modified, allergen-free and culturally specific dishes
- Maintain food safety documentation including temperature records, HACCP checks and cleaning logs
- Keep your section and shared kitchen areas clean and hygienic to required standards
- Assist with stock rotation, date labelling and correct food storage
- Report equipment faults, supply shortages or food safety concerns to the Executive Chef promptly
- Contribute to a positive kitchen culture and participate in special events and resident functions
Skills and experience
- Proven experience as a Chef or Cook in hospitality, healthcare or aged care
- Solid technical cooking skills — food preparation, cooking techniques, plating and presentation
- Ability to cook for diverse dietary needs including texture-modified and allergen-free requirements
- Sound knowledge of food safety, HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards
- Reliable, punctual and consistent under the pressures of service
- A team player who communicates well and supports their colleagues
- Experience in aged care or healthcare kitchens highly regarded, not essential
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent (essential)
- Food Safety Supervisor Certification or willingness to obtain (essential)
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or apprenticeship completion (desirable)
