Chef

Moon's Fresh Sushi is an established and busy restaurant in Wollongong, serving our loyal customers since 2016. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our kitchen team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan and organise daily food preparation and cooking, prepare and cook dishes to the required quality standard.
• Assist management with menu pricing, food requirements and food cost considerations.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, presentation and consistency.
• Order food supplies, monitor stock levels and receive and check deliveries for quality and quantity.
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
• Assist with controlling food costs and minimising food wastage.
• Guide, train and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques and safe kitchen practices.
• Coordinate kitchen activities during service and communicate with management and kitchen staff to maintain efficient operations.
• Work effectively under pressure during busy service periods.

Requirements

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 3 years of Chef experience.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety and kitchen operations.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Availability to work on rotating roster, including weekends.
• Full-time working rights in Australia.

Pay: From $79,500.00 per year
