Taste Cafe, based inside Dorset Museum in the heart of Dorchester, is looking for a talented, enthusiastic chef to join our team.

We’re an established, busy cafe with a great atmosphere, a loyal customer base and a passion for serving quality food using fantastic local produce. We’re looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas, take pride in their cooking and help us keep building something special.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys being in the kitchen, thrives in a busy environment and understands that great food goes hand in hand with a happy, welcoming atmosphere.

Forget the late finishes and long nights of traditional restaurant work. This is a daytime role where you can do what you love, work with a great team and still have a life outside the kitchen.

What you’ll be doing

• Preparing and serving fresh, high-quality food for our cafe customers.
• Working with seasonal ingredients and fantastic local produce.
• Bringing ideas to the table and helping develop our menus.
• Taking ownership of the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Managing stock, ordering and food costs.
• Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards.
• Getting involved in private events, functions and outside catering.

Who we’re looking for

We want a chef who is passionate about good food, organised, reliable and confident working independently.

You’ll have professional kitchen experience, take pride in what you serve and be comfortable keeping things running smoothly during busy services.

Just as importantly, you’ll bring a positive attitude, enjoy working as part of a team and help create the kind of atmosphere that makes people want to come back.

• £26,000–£32,000 per year, depending on experience.

Taste Cafe is located inside Dorset Museum, serving visitors, locals and museum staff in a unique setting in the centre of Dorchester. Alongside our daily cafe service, we cater for private functions and events, giving the role plenty of variety.
