What they need
Bellamere Winery & Event Centre is looking for an experienced, dependable and motivated Chef de Partie / Preparation Cook to join our culinary team.
As a busy wedding and event venue, our kitchen operates differently from a traditional restaurant. Our culinary team prepares and executes high-quality meals for weddings, corporate functions and special events, with a strong focus on organization, consistency, teamwork and attention to detail.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of preparation and timing, and is comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities while working as part of a close-knit team.
The Role
The Chef de Partie / Preparation Cook will assist with food preparation and event execution while maintaining Bellamere's standards for quality, presentation, food safety and cleanliness.
Depending on experience and the needs of the kitchen, responsibilities may include:
- Preparing ingredients and menu items according to recipes, specifications and event requirements
- Completing advance preparation for upcoming weddings and events
- Managing assigned kitchen stations and ensuring preparation is completed accurately and on time
- Assisting with cooking, plating and service during events
- Maintaining consistent portioning, quality and presentation
- Reviewing event requirements and preparing appropriate quantities based on guest counts
- Ensuring food is properly labelled, dated, rotated and stored
- Following food safety, sanitation and allergen procedures
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area
- Assisting with receiving and proper storage of food products and supplies
- Communicating effectively with the Chef and other members of the culinary team
- Identifying preparation needs and taking initiative rather than waiting to be directed
- Supporting other kitchen team members when required
- Completing opening, closing and general kitchen duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Has previous professional kitchen experience; banquet, catering or high-volume event experience is an asset
- Has strong food preparation and cooking skills
- Is organized and able to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Works efficiently while maintaining quality and attention to detail
- Is dependable, punctual and committed to scheduled shifts
- Takes initiative and can work independently when required
- Communicates well and contributes positively to a team environment
- Remains calm and focused during busy event service
- Understands and follows safe food-handling and sanitation practices
- Is willing to learn Bellamere's recipes, procedures and standards
- Takes pride in leaving their station clean, organized and ready for the next team member
- A valid Food Handler Certificate
Schedule & Availability
Candidates must be available to work weekends, including Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as required. Weekday preparation shifts will also be scheduled based on event volume.
Hours will vary from week to week and are based on scheduled events and preparation requirements. This position is best suited to someone who understands the flexibility required in the hospitality and event industry.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to:
- Stand and work on your feet for extended periods
- Work in a busy commercial kitchen environment
- Bend, reach and perform repetitive food-preparation tasks
- Safely lift and carry kitchen supplies, food products and equipment as required
