About the role – Mō te Tūranga

Are you an experienced Chef who enjoys variety and being part of a great team? Perhaps you’re looking for a role where no two days are quite the same?

We are looking for a Chef to join our Qestral catering team in a varied, multi-site role working across Burlington Village, Alpine View and Banbury Park.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.

Reporting to the Group Executive Chef, this role will support our bakery, café and kitchen operations across our Christchurch villages. Your duties will include:

• Preparing a range of baking and café food
• Supporting bakery and café operations across our villages
• Food preparation and meal service
• Providing Chef cover across Burlington Village, Alpine View and Banbury Park when required
• Supporting functions and catering requirements
• Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, cleanliness and hygiene
• Working collaboratively with our Chefs, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants and wider catering teams
• Delivering a high standard of service to our residents

Our current Qestral Chef responsibilities place particular importance on food quality and consistency, preparation for meal services, cleanliness, food presentation and excellent resident service.

The role operates across a 7-day roster. Set days will be rostered and are likely to predominantly fall Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is important, as weekend cover and day swaps may be required from time to time.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Previous experience working as a Chef
• Strong cooking, food preparation and baking skills
• Experience with café-style food preparation
• Great people skills and a friendly, approachable manner
• The ability to work well under pressure and manage a range of duties
• Strong time management and organisational skills
• Reliability and flexibility
• The ability and willingness to work across multiple Christchurch locations
• A commitment to high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation
• A team-focused attitude and a willingness to step in and help where needed

The existing Qestral role requirements also identify flexibility, reliability, communication, problem-solving and time management as important qualities.
