Chef (Part Time)

£15 per hour | 20 hours per week (flexible) | Immediate Start Available

The Argyle Arms is an independent neighbourhood pub in Brighton, voted Best Pub in East Sussex at the National Pub & Bar Awards 2025.

No split shifts. Monday & Tuesday kitchen closed (2 set days off as minimum).

Our food is centred around low & slow barbecue, inspired by Texas smokehouses and barbecue specials from around the world. Our kitchen staff do not need experience in this field.

We're looking for a reliable and motivated chef to join our small kitchen team. No barbecue experience is required, just a good attitude, strong work ethic and a passion for food. We'll teach you everything else.

The Role

• Food prep, sauces, sides & garnishes
• Plating dishes to spec with consistency and attention to detail
• Griddle, fryer & hot-holding equipment
• Supporting service in a small, friendly team
• Stock rotation, organisation & stock counts
• Maintaining excellent food safety, cleanliness & hygiene standards

What We're Looking For

• At least 1 year of professional kitchen experience
• Reliable, organised and hardworking
• Good presentation, personal hygiene and attention to detail
• Comfortable working evenings and weekends
• Food Safety Level 2/3 preferred (or willingness to obtain)

• Mon & Tues: Closed
• Weds & Thurs: 5pm–9pm
• Fri: 3pm–9pm
• Sat: 1pm–9pm
• Sun: 12pm–5pm

Trials are paid at £13ph, this is age dependent.
