Chess Instructor

Position Overview

We are hiring a Part-Time Chess Instructor to design and teach interactive chess classes for school-aged students.

The ideal candidate goes beyond teaching basic rules,they focus on building strategic thinking, patience, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills in a fun, encouraging environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Interactive Instruction: Teach chess fundamentals, board vision, opening strategies, middlegame tactics, and endgame techniques appropriate for various age and skill levels.
• Curriculum Planning: Structure engaging 3-4 months lesson plans that combine tactical lectures, puzzle solving, and guided casual play.
• Tournament & Exhibition Management: Organize mini-tournaments, blitz rounds, or simultaneous exhibitions (simuls) within the academy to keep learning exciting.
• Critical Thinking Mentorship: Use chess as a medium to teach broader life skills such as foresight, emotional control, sportsmanship, and analytical thinking.
• Progress Tracking: Monitor individual student improvement, provide constructive feedback, and communicate growth updates to parents.

Qualifications & Skills

• Chess Expertise: Strong playing background with a solid understanding of chess theory, tactics, and notation. FIDE rating or tournament experience is a strong advantage.
• Teaching Experience: 1+ years of experience coaching or teaching chess to children, school clubs, or youth academies.
• Classroom Management: Excellent patience, enthusiasm, and the ability to maintain discipline while keeping the learning atmosphere light and engaging.
• Communication: Ability to explain complex tactical concepts in simple, kid-friendly language.

Work Schedule & Compensation

• Hours: Afterschool hours / weekends (flexible batch schedules matched to your availability).
• Pay: Competitive session-based or hourly rate based on coaching experience and credentials.

Pay: Rs1,500.00 - Rs3,000.00 per hour
