Chief Accountant

About the role

Optical 88 (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Accountant to join our finance team on a full-time basis. Based in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, this is a pivotal leadership position within our accounting function. As Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company's growth and operational efficiency. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity of our financial records and supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all financial accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger management and bank reconciliations
• Prepare, review and ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with Thai accounting standards and relevant regulations
• Lead the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial accuracy
• Manage the accounting team, providing coaching, mentoring and performance management to ensure high standards of work and professional development
• Coordinate with external auditors during audit engagements and ensure timely resolution of audit findings and recommendations
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and coordinate with tax authorities on all tax-related matters and filings
• Prepare and analyse financial reports and key performance indicators to provide management with insights for strategic decision-making
• Manage the fixed asset register and conduct periodic asset verification exercises
• Oversee payroll processing, statutory deductions and employee benefit accounting
• Liaise with senior management and other departments to resolve accounting queries and provide financial guidance

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; professional accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in accounting roles, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory accounting position
• Strong knowledge of Thai accounting standards, tax regulations and financial reporting requirements
• Demonstrated expertise in financial accounting, including accounts preparation, reconciliations, journal entries and month-end close procedures
• Proficiency in accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; experience with Thai accounting software is advantageous
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications for financial analysis and reporting
• Excellent understanding of internal controls, audit procedures and risk management principles
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
• Proven leadership capability with the ability to manage, develop and motivate accounting staff
• Excellent communication skills in both Thai and English; ability to prepare clear financial reports and communicate findings to stakeholders
• Integrity and strong ethical standards with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality of sensitive financial information
