Chief Accountant

The role will give the opportunity to implement your ideas and knowledge in the areas of Accounting and Finance for the Romanian entity.

Chief Accountant

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day accounting activities of the Romanian company.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure all transactions are properly recorded and documented.
• Ensure compliance with Romanian accounting, tax, and statutory requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate VAT, tax, and other statutory filings, in cooperation with external advisors where applicable.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, general ledger activities, and expense reporting.
• Conduct month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare regular financial information and reports for the headquarters in Bulgaria.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, payroll providers, banks, and other external partners.
• Provide accounting information and support to the management teams in Cluj and Bucharest.
• Communicate with the Bulgarian headquarters on accounting, reporting and financial matters.
• Identify discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of accounting and payroll issues
• Support the implementation and improvement of accounting and administrative processes across the Romanian offices.

Requirements:

• University degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• 7+ years of experience in accounting
• Solid knowledge of Romanian accounting and tax legislation
• High level of understanding of month-end and year-end closing procedures
• Experience with VAT and statutory reporting
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV will be considered strong advantage
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently
• Very good command of English.
