Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer (CAIO)

We are looking for a Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer to establish how AI is designed, governed, built, and delivered across Nexion. This is a hands-on executive role with two connected goals: make our own teams more effective through responsible AI adoption, and build AI solutions that solve meaningful problems for our clients.

The opportunity

You will create Nexion’s AI architecture from the ground up. That includes the technical foundation, data and security standards, development practices, team capabilities, and commercial offerings needed to take AI projects from discovery into dependable production use.

You will work directly with the CEO and respective departmental leaders to lead across engineering, design, operations, sales, and client delivery. We need someone who can set a clear strategy, make sound technical decisions, build a capable team, and personally guide important early engagements.

What you will own

• Company-wide AI strategy: Identify where AI can improve Nexion’s delivery, internal operations, and client outcomes. Prioritize opportunities by business value, feasibility, cost, and risk.
• AI architecture: Define the standards and reusable foundations for data pipelines, model and provider selection, retrieval systems, integrations, evaluation, monitoring, security, and deployment.
• Internal adoption: Introduce practical AI workflows across development, design, research, content, marketing, sales, and operations. Measure whether those workflows improve quality, speed, or cost.
• Client solutions: Lead discovery and solution architecture for AI projects, from automation and intelligent search to copilots, analytics, and AI features embedded in software products.
• Production delivery: Establish a repeatable path from prototype to launch and ongoing support, including testing, human review, observability, cost controls, and failure handling.
• Governance and trust: Set policies for client data, confidentiality, intellectual property, access controls, vendor use, and responsible AI. Ensure teams know which tools and data they may use on each engagement.
• Team building: Hire, mentor, and lead AI engineers and other specialists as the practice grows. Upskill existing teams and create clear ways for them to collaborate.
• Commercial growth: Help shape Nexion’s AI service offerings, estimates, proposals, partnerships, and executive-level client conversations. Support sales with technically credible recommendations rather than generic AI pitches.

What we are looking for

• Significant experience leading the design and delivery of AI or machine learning solutions used by real organizations.
• Strong technical command of modern AI systems, including LLM applications, retrieval-augmented generation, data engineering, APIs, cloud infrastructure, evaluation, and production operations.
• Experience making architecture and build-versus-buy decisions under real budget, security, and delivery constraints.
• A record of leading multidisciplinary teams and taking initiatives from business problem through deployment and measurable results.
• The ability to explain AI opportunities and limitations clearly to CEOs, client stakeholders, engineers, and nontechnical teams.
• Sound judgment on data privacy, security, intellectual property, and responsible use of third-party AI platforms.
• A builder’s mindset: you are comfortable defining the strategy and getting close enough to the work to ensure it succeeds.

Experience building an AI practice within a software agency, consultancy, or product development company would be especially valuable. Experience serving clients across multiple industries and international markets is also welcome.
