Chief Data Officer

Role Description This full-time remote Chief Data Officer role at Unifacisa Centro Universitário (Graduação e Pós-graduação) is responsible for defining and executing the institution’s data strategy across academic and administrative domains. The Chief Data Officer will lead the design and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure consistent, ethical, and compliant use of data. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing data management processes, ensuring data quality and integrity, and coordinating cross-functional data initiatives to support decision-making and performance improvement. The role will collaborate with leadership, IT, academic departments, and operational teams to prioritize data projects, implement analytics solutions, and promote data literacy throughout the organization. The Chief Data Officer will also monitor data-related risks, manage data platforms and tools, and guide the adoption of advanced analytics and data science capabilities aligned with institutional goals.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Data Governance, including policy development, compliance, and data stewardship.
• Candidates should possess robust Data Management abilities, such as data architecture, data integration, and metadata management.
• Candidates should possess proficiency in Data Quality practices, including data validation, cleansing, and continuous quality monitoring.
• Candidates should possess advanced Data Science and Analytical Skills, including statistical analysis, modeling, and interpretation of complex datasets.
• Proven experience in senior data leadership roles, preferably within higher education or complex organizational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and communicate data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations, information security principles, and ethical use of data.
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field; graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) is highly beneficial.
• Experience with modern data platforms, business intelligence tools, and cloud-based analytics solutions.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities in data-driven environments.
