About the role

Akolade oversees a suite of industry content platforms that serve as trusted sources of news, insights, and educational resources for professionals across Australia's health and aged care, government, retail and supply chain, and not-for-profit sectors. We're seeking a seasoned Chief Editor to lead one of our core platforms, steering the creation and delivery of high-quality content and overseeing a dedicated content team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a content strategy that aligns with sector needs and company goals
• Oversee content creation, from news articles to in-depth resources, to ensure relevance and accuracy
• Manage a team of content writers and support their development
• Collaborate with industry professionals for research and interviews to generate impactful articles
• Lead website management (WordPress) and optimize user experience
• Create and oversee newsletters (HubSpot) to engage and grow subscriber base
• Drive social media strategy and engagement for greater reach and audience interaction
• Work closely with the marketing team to align campaigns and manage advertisements
• Develop and manage electronic direct mail (EDM) campaigns
• Assist with the planning and content integration for industry events

About you

• Strong background in sourcing news, editorial content, and strategy development
• Proven writing and editing expertise, with an eye for detail
• Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects
• Experience working with CMS platforms and SEO management
• Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative leader
• Exceptional communication skills, with an aptitude for engaging industry audiences
• Positive work ethic and adaptability to new tools and processes
• Strategic social media engagement understanding
• Degree in journalism, media, communications, or a related field is preferred, though substantial experience is highly valued
• Minimum 8+ years in journalism, content production, or editorial leadership
