What they need
- Oversee the safe and proper operation of the vessel’s main engine, generators, and other machinery.
- Perform regular inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of engine equipment.
- Supervise the Oiler and other engine crew and ensure that assigned duties are properly carried out.
- Monitor fuel, lubricants, spare parts, and other engine supplies.
- Keep accurate engine room logbooks, maintenance records, and reports.
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are in good working condition before and during vessel operations.
- Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns and other engine-related emergencies.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, maritime regulations, and vessel operating procedures.
- Coordinate with the Captain and shore management regarding repairs, maintenance, and other technical concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and safe working conditions in the engine room.
- Perform other duties related to vessel operations as may be assigned by management.
