A well-established structural steel operation is looking for a Chief Engineer to become a key technical leader within the business with responsibility spanning engineering, connection design, technical problem-solving and the development of the wider engineering team.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an engineer who wants real influence over how complex steel projects are engineered, detailed and delivered , working directly with project management, fabrication, production and leadership.

The business is continuing to strengthen its engineering and operational capabilities, with a pipeline of challenging structural steel work and an ongoing focus on improving the way projects are delivered.

You would sit at the heart of the engineering function, acting as a technical authority across complex projects while helping shape engineering processes, standards and team capability.

The Role

You would be responsible for:

• Leading engineering activities and providing technical direction
• Overseeing structural steel connection design
• Reviewing engineering calculations and design packages
• Working closely with detailing and project management teams
• Resolving technical and buildability issues throughout project delivery
• Supporting fabrication, production and quality teams
• Improving engineering processes and standards
• Developing and mentoring junior engineers
• Supporting the successful delivery of complex structural steel projects

What They're Looking For

• Strong structural steel engineering experience
• Proven connection design experience
• Experience within a fabrication or steel construction environment
• Strong knowledge of AISC standards and practices
• Ability to review and interpret engineering calculations
• Experience working with detailing, fabrication and project teams
• Previous technical or engineering leadership experience
• PE preferred
• Bridge fabrication or structural bridge experience would be beneficial
