About the role

We are recruiting a Chief Engineer (Hotel experience) to join Paradox Resort Phuket in Mueang Phuket. This is a full-time position that offers a strategic opportunity to lead our engineering operations and oversee the technical excellence of our resort facilities. As Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the overall management of all engineering systems, maintenance operations and technical staff within the hotel. You will play a vital role in ensuring that our infrastructure operates at peak efficiency, supporting our guests' comfort and safety whilst driving operational cost-effectiveness and sustainability initiatives. This position reports to senior management and requires a proactive, solution-focused professional who can manage complex engineering challenges in a dynamic hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, coordination and execution of all engineering and maintenance operations across the resort
• Manage and supervise the engineering team, including recruitment, training, performance management and professional development
• Ensure compliance with all building codes, safety regulations and local statutory requirements applicable to hotel operations
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment and systems
• Monitor and manage energy consumption, utility costs and sustainability initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact
• Oversee the maintenance and operation of critical systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, security and backup power systems
• Conduct regular inspections and audits of all engineering systems and facilities to identify potential issues and areas for improvement
• Manage capital improvement projects and facility upgrades, coordinating with contractors and vendors whilst ensuring quality standards and budget adherence
• Respond to and resolve emergency situations, system failures and maintenance issues with minimal disruption to guest services
• Prepare technical reports, budgets and forecasts for senior management and communicate engineering performance metrics
• Liaise with external contractors, suppliers and consultants to maintain facilities and implement new technologies

What we're looking for

• Minimum 10 years' experience as Chief Engineer, Senior Engineer or Head of Maintenance in a hotel, resort or large hospitality establishment
• Proven track record of successfully managing engineering teams and operations in a multi-building or complex facility environment
• Strong knowledge of hotel engineering systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety systems, energy management and building automation systems
• Certification as a professional engineer or relevant engineering qualifications in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering
• In-depth understanding of Thai building codes, safety regulations and statutory compliance requirements for hospitality venues
• Excellent budget management skills with experience in cost control, capital planning and procurement
• Strong leadership and team management abilities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and facility management software
• Fluent in English; additional language skills are advantageous
• Knowledge of sustainable building practices and energy-efficient technologies
• Valid driving licence and willingness to be on-call for emergencies
