Unified Communications Solution Lead

We are seeking a Unified Communications Solution Lead to design and deliver secure collaboration solutions across classified and isolated networks.

You will lead the architecture and integration of voice, video and messaging services, enabling communication between distinct security domains and different technology platforms. The role combines technical design, engineering leadership and information assurance within a complex, secure environment.

The role

You will take ownership of the UC solution design, ensuring that communications platforms work together effectively while meeting stringent security, performance and availability requirements.

Working with engineering teams, security specialists and stakeholders, you will translate requirements into practical designs and guide delivery through integration, testing and deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Design secure cross-domain communications solutions, incorporating guards and multi-level security gateways.

• Define high-level and low-level designs for integrated voice, video and messaging services.

• Integrate multi-vendor UC platforms using SIP, H.323, video teleconferencing, instant messaging and presence.

• Design call routing and interoperability between disparate communications platforms and network security domains.

• Ensure solutions meet information assurance requirements and applicable security standards.

• Build resilience, fault tolerance and low latency into the architecture.

• Lead engineering teams through implementation, integration, testing and deployment.

• Investigate complex interoperability issues and provide technical direction to resolve them.

• Communicate design decisions, risks and dependencies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Produce and maintain architecture, configuration and operational handover documentation.

Skills and experience

• Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise Unified Communications solutions within secure environments.

• A thorough understanding of SIP, H.323, VoIP, VTC, messaging and presence services.

• Experience integrating complex, multi-vendor communications platforms.

• Experience with cross-domain solutions, security guards or multi-level security gateways.

• An understanding of the controls required to connect separate classified or isolated networks.

• Experience producing high-level and low-level technical designs.

• Knowledge of information assurance and secure network architecture.

• A track record of leading engineers and taking technical ownership of solution delivery.

• Strong stakeholder management, troubleshooting and technical communication skills.

This opportunity would suit an experienced UC Solution Architect, Collaboration Architect, Voice & Video Architect or Technical Lead with a background in secure communications.
