We are currently hiring on behalf of our clients for the following position:

Position: Chief Estimator

Location: Long Island City, NY

Employment Type: Full-Time

Experience: 15+

We’re looking for an experienced Chief Estimator to lead estimating operations for major heavy civil, highway, site work, and public works projects in the NYC market . This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who can drive bid strategy, manage an estimating team, and deliver competitive, profitable proposals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the estimating department across hard bids, negotiated work, and design-build projects

• Manage bid strategy, bid calendars, pricing reviews, and final submissions

• Mentor and develop estimators while ensuring accuracy and consistency across estimates

• Review project scopes, subcontractor/vendor quotes, labor, materials, and overall costs

• Support business development by evaluating potential project opportunities

• Build strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal teams

• Identify value engineering, cost-saving, and post-bid buyout opportunities

• Utilize HCSS HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel , and related estimating tools

What We’re Looking For:

- 15–20+ years of estimating and/or construction project management experience

• Strong background in heavy/highway construction, civil site work, and public works

• Significant knowledge of the NYC construction market

• Proven experience leading and mentoring estimating teams

• Experience with HCSS, B2W, and Bluebeam preferred

Microsoft Excel required

• Strong bid analysis, negotiation, cost estimating, and decision-making skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field , or equivalent practical experience

• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
