Chief Inspector – FAA Part 145 Repair Station

Propel Aviation Sales & Services, LLCLocation: Miami Executive Airport (KTMB) – Miami, FloridaPosition: Full-Time | On-Site

About the Position

Propel Aviation Sales & Services is seeking an experienced Chief Inspector to lead the Quality Control and Inspection functions of our FAA Part 145 Repair Station at Miami Executive Airport (KTMB).

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring that all maintenance, inspections, repairs, alterations, and return-to-service activities are performed in accordance with FAA regulations, approved technical data, company procedures, and the highest standards of safety and quality.

We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, organized, hands-on, and comfortable working directly with technicians, management, customers, vendors, and FAA representatives in a fast-paced business aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Repair Station’s inspection and quality control functions.
  • Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Part 145, applicable portions of Parts 43 and 91, FAA-approved/accepted manuals, Operations Specifications, and company procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance and inspection activities are properly documented and accomplished using current and appropriate technical data.
  • Review maintenance records, work packages, inspection documentation, discrepancies, and corrective actions prior to return to service.
  • Ensure aircraft and components meet applicable airworthiness requirements before approving or recommending return to service.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to inspectors and maintenance personnel regarding inspection requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain oversight of required inspection items, incoming inspections, hidden-damage inspections, preliminary inspections, and final inspections as applicable.
  • Assist with maintaining and controlling the Repair Station’s Capability List and associated self-evaluation processes.
  • Ensure inspection personnel are appropriately qualified, trained, and authorized for assigned duties.
  • Support the Repair Station’s training, calibration/tool-control, technical-data, and quality systems.
  • Monitor compliance with Airworthiness Directives, manufacturer requirements, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Identify quality or compliance concerns and coordinate corrective actions with maintenance and management.
  • Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement of Repair Station procedures.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact during FAA surveillance, audits, inspections, and regulatory matters involving the Repair Station’s inspection and quality systems.
  • Work closely with the General Manager, maintenance leadership, production, customer service, and technicians to maintain regulatory compliance while supporting efficient aircraft completion schedules.
  • Exercise appropriate authority to stop or reject work that does not meet regulatory, technical, or company quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate required.
  • Strong working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 43, 91, and 145.
  • Previous inspection or quality-control experience within an FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
  • Prior experience as a Chief Inspector, Lead Inspector, Quality Manager, or senior-level inspector strongly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of aircraft maintenance records, technical data, Airworthiness Directives, maintenance manuals, and return-to-service requirements.
  • Experience working directly with FAA representatives and participating in FAA audits or surveillance preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify compliance issues and communicate corrective actions clearly and professionally.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on maintenance environment and collaborating across departments.
  • Business aviation experience strongly preferred.

Experience with platforms such as Challenger, Global, Falcon, Citation, King Air, and other business/general aviation aircraft is a plus.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is not simply an inspector reviewing paperwork. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the Repair Station’s quality and compliance standards, understands the operational realities of aircraft maintenance, and can work collaboratively with the maintenance team while maintaining the independence and authority required of the inspection function.

This individual should be confident making airworthiness and compliance decisions, identifying problems before they become findings, and helping maintain a strong working relationship with the FAA.

Why Join Propel Aviation?

This position provides an opportunity to take an important leadership role within the organization and directly influence the quality, compliance, and continued development of our Repair Station.
