Chief Manager - Underwriting

What are we looking for?

• As a Chief Manager, the role involves Underwriting cases, managing a team, system development projects, process improvements. It also involves driving PASA and upsell of policies across Retail, Group/Health. It includes handling complaints/ escalations, supporting sales on business enablement, ensuring quality checks on the processed data and ensuring implementation of underwriting guidelines, regulatory norms and guidelines.

What does the job entail?

• Lead mentor and groom the underwriting team; ensure consistent productivity, quality, and TAT adherence.
• Review and approve cases in line with underwriting philosophy.
• Strengthen control frameworks, manage internal/external audits, and ensure timely closure of observations.
• Quick learner and have the aptitude to see affinity between underwriting guidelines across Group/ Health and Retail, and the ability to drive PASA and upsell of policies.
• Drive projects like PASA (Pre-Approved Sum Assured) for Health, Group and Retail
• Engage and negotiate with the reinsurer on guidelines and decisions.
• Manage cross‑functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Product, Tech, Claims, Legal/ Compliance and Actuarial.
• Oversee customer escalations and drive preventive actions to reduce complaints
• Lead process enhancement and system change initiatives, including UAT/product testing/ system testing.
• Review proposal form changes and feedback to Product teams.
• Ensure accurate data handling, MIS governance, and reporting for leadership reviews.

Work Experience

Min 10 years of work exp

Product and Process knowledge along with awareness of process flows, and core systems Group Asia, Health Asia.

Essential Qualification

: Minimum Graduate/ Post Graduate.
