Salary: £55,000 | Full-time, 35 hours | Brighton & Hove | Flexible/hybrid working

About Possability People

Possability People is a user-led pan-impairment disability charity based in Brighton & Hove. For more than 40 years, we’ve worked alongside disabled people to remove barriers, provide practical support and help people have choice and control over their lives.

We’re now looking for an experienced and values-led Chief Officer to lead us into our next chapter.

About the role

This is an important time for Possability People. We have a strong local identity, committed staff and volunteers, established services and a wealth of experience across the organisation. We’re looking for someone who can build on that foundation while bringing clear strategic direction, financial focus and energy for the future.

Working closely with our Trustee Board and Senior Leadership Team, you’ll help shape and deliver our strategy for the next three years. You’ll provide overall leadership across the organisation, with a particular focus on:

• Strengthening our financial resilience and developing sustainable, diverse income.
• Building trust, confidence and cohesion across our staff and volunteer teams.
• Protecting the quality and sustainability of our services while being prepared to make difficult decisions when needed.
• Ensuring our resources, people and activity are aligned with our priorities.
• Building strong relationships with funders, commissioners, partners and other organisations.
• Raising PP’s profile, reach and influence across Brighton & Hove, Sussex and beyond.
• Working closely with Trustees and the Chair to support strong governance and accountability.

About you

You’ll be an experienced senior leader who can combine strategic thinking with practical, visible leadership. You’ll understand the financial and organisational realities of running a charity and have experience of developing income, managing resources and leading through change.

You’ll be confident making decisions, challenging constructively and bringing people with you. You’ll also be an engaging external representative who can build relationships, open doors and tell a compelling story about the work and impact of the organisation.

As a user-led organisation, understanding disability and valuing lived experience is fundamental to how we work. You’ll listen before acting, respect the expertise of disabled people and ensure lived experience remains at the heart of organisational decision-making.

Hours: 35 hours per week, full-time
Location: Brighton & Hove, with flexible and home working and an expectation of approximately 50% office-based working
