About the role

To ensure restaurant product quality standards are met at all times and optimum service is provided to hotel guests according to standards under the direction of the Manager/Section Manager, and within the limits of established Policies and Procedures. The captain is the service leader of one section team and must function as such, responsible to the proper Supervisor of the assigned section and ensure that Outrigger standards of efficient and courteous service are implemented and cleanliness maintained by the staff under direct authority.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the waitress and trainees in the attainment of guest satisfaction
• Ensure that table and bar counter tops have been properly set and clean ready for service
• Ensure the efficiency of service at all times
• Personally check all tableside preparations for smooth service
• Check preparation and presentation of check to the guest
• Ensure all staff are well groomed
• Check with kitchen for daily specials
• Responsible for taking guest orders
• Operate Micros POS and closing daily shift
• Handle guest complaints at all times

About you

• Diploma plus technical certificate or above in related field
• 3 years experience from 4 or 5 star properties
• Flexibility, imaginative, business minded, hard working and energetic
• Must be team orientated
• Must be able to demonstrate recent successes in a comparable position
• Communicates openly and clearly in English
• Sets high personal performance standards
• Adapts quickly and positively to new situations
• Confidence in representing the hotel both internally and externally
